Want some packing tips?

Successful packing leads to a successful move, so we’ve compiled some of our best tips to help you out!

• Empty drawers of breakable items that could easily be damaged or puncture other items (clothing can remain in drawers).
• Start with out-of-season and infrequently used items. Save the last things you’ll need until the moving day.
• Pack similar items together.
• Pack heavy items in smaller boxes.
• Wind electrical cords and fasten them so they do not dangle.
• Build up in layers. Start with the heaviest items on the bottom and the lightest on top.
• Cushion well with crushed paper or padding. The more fragile the item, the more cushioning is needed.
• Place small boxes in a single, large box. Fill in the spaces with crushed paper or padding.
• Avoid overloading boxes, but strive to firmly pack and prevent items from shifting.
• Pack heavy items in smaller boxes.
• Seal items with tape. Do not interlock moving box tops.
• Put detailed labels on the tops and sides of all moving boxes.
